Debra Nessel is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes
Educator whose professional experience spans more than twenty years.
A graduate of California State University, Northridge. Debra began her career
as Assistant Director and Chief Clinical Dietitian for a major medical center
in Los Angeles. While on staff she established a twelve- week behavior modification
and weight control program that became the cornerstone of the hospital’s
protocol.
Later, as a Corporate Dietitian for one of the leaders in food contract
services – Canteen, a division of the Eurest Corporation -- Nessel
combined her clinical expertise with a passion for food to create wholesome
employee dining options. She taught on-site "Nutritious But Still Delicious" cooking
classes, developed an interactive computer nutrition analysis program, and
contributed to the corporate wellness model of her various accounts.
Today she continues to guide individuals in a hospital based nutrition
outpatient program. In that setting she recommends diet and lifestyle changes
to manage diabetes, weight, cardiac and renal health, and other special needs.
She is a frequent guest on local radio and cable television food shows and
conducts on-site Corporate Wellness Programs for local Southland businesses.
