Biography of Regina Basterrechea, M.S.
Regina Basterrechea is originally from Ketchum, Idaho. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from the University of Idaho with an emphasis in Sport Nutrition. During her internship in Cardiac Rehabilitation she found working with mature patients very rewarding and decided to obtain her Master's of Science degree in Cardiac Rehabilitation from East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania. Upon completing her degree in 1997, she was hired by The Heart Institute of the Desert as their nutritionist and exercise physiologist. At the Heart Institute, she provided nutrition consultations for patients referred to her by the internal medicine & cardiovascular physicians. Regina also designed exercise programs for patients with cardiovascular diseases, taught patient education classes, and did numerous radio and television interviews on various nutrition topics. She is working with JJ Virgin as Desert Women's Health's nutritionist and exercise physiologist.
