Preparing for your Core Biopsy

1. No aspirin or aspirin type medications for 7-10 days prior to biopsy. No Advil, Aleve, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Excedrin, Vitamin E, Ginko Biloba for 7-10 days prior to biopsy.
2. No blood thinning medications for 7-11 days prior to biopsy (or as directed by the prescribing physician) Please coordinate with the prescribing physician, do not just stop Heparin or Coumadin without the consent of your treating/prescribing physician.
3. Wear a two piece comfortable outfit with a loose blouse.
4. Bring or wear a supportive bra. This will hold an ice pack in place and also help to support the breast.
5. Please eat and drink something prior to arriving for the procedure.
6. You will need to limit your physical activities for 48 hours after the procedure. No heavy lifting or stretching of the area.
7. There will be a return appointment soon after the procedure to check the biopsy site and to receive the results of the biopsy.
